May 16 thru June • Wy'east Artisans Guild – Mt. Hood Cultural Center and Museum.  Annual mixed media art show.
May 17 • Hood River Free Kid's Fishing Clinic – Middle Fork Irrigation Pond 8:00am - 1:00pm Mt. Hood National Forest, Hood River Ranger District, in cooperation with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and Middle Fork Irrigation, is hosting its annual FREE Youth Fishing Clinic on Saturday, May 17th. This clinic is for children 13 and under, all children must be accompanied by an adult. This event takes place at the Middle Fork Irrigation pond in Parkdale on Laurance Lake Road. Please join us for a day of fishing, learning, and family fun. Also, please bring fishing gear as we have a limited amount to loan out. Don't forget, participants will enjoy locally donated prizes and refreshments.  May 17-18  • 2008 Spey Clave – Oxbow Park The 2008 clave will be the biggest ever spey rod party in the western hemisphere! If you are interested in meeting other steelhead Spey fishers and hope to learn a lot about Spey casting and more about steelhead fishing, the Sandy River Spey Clave is for you. The event will start at Oxbow Park on Saturday morning the 17th of May and conclude on Sunday 18th.  This time of year there should be plenty of Summer Steelhead.  It is also the peak of the Spring Chinook run. The days are long and the weather is warm. This event was first proposed by The International Spey Page and Discussion Group. There is no charge except for the Oxbow Park entrance and camping fees. Oxbow Park Entrance Fee is $4.00 per vehicle. Overnight camping is available at Oxbow on a first come, first served basis for $15 (up to six people per site). No pets (dogs) are allowed in Oxbow Park. For more information/directions visit www.flyfishusa.com.
May 24-25 • Beginning Blacksmithing – Arts Cabins  10:00am & 1:00pm Learn the art of blacksmithing. All tools and supplies are included. 2 hour lesson. Pre-registration is required. $60 per class, per person. 2 student limit per class time.
